[Automotive Materials network] On February 8, South Korean energy market Research agency SNE Research released data show that the world's TOP10 power battery installed capacity in 2022 are: Ningde Times, LG New Energy, BYD, Panasonic, SK On, Samsung SDI, Zhongchuang New Aviation, Guoxun High-tech, Xinwang Da, Fucan Technology. Chinese companies occupy six of the top 10, with a combined share of more than 60%. In 2022, Ningde Times ranked first in the world for six consecutive years with a market share of 37%, and its 37% market share exceeded the second to fourth LG New Energy, BYD, and Panasonic combined (34.5%).
It is worth mentioning that BYD completed the surpassing of Panasonic, the market share is the same as the second LG new energy, from the dynamic point of view, BYD increased from 8.7% of the market share in 2021 to 13.6%, while LG new energy is from 19.7% of the market share fell to 13.6%. South Korea's three major companies LG New Energy, SK On, Samsung SDI share decreased from 30.2% in the previous year by 6.5%p to 23.7%.
The data also shows that from January to December 2022, the total consumption of electric vehicle (EV, PHEV, HEV) batteries registered in various countries was 517.9GWh, an increase of 71.8% year-on-year. Since the third quarter of 2020, the market has continued to grow. Based on global monthly EV and battery shipment forecasts based on SNE Tracker, battery consumption in 2023 is expected to be about 749GWh.
